Screen Innovations’ Projection Screen Options Give Great Picture

The Black Diamond Projection Screen

The Black Diamond does two things remarkably well. The first is to reduce the amount of ambient light in a room. When you’ve got the lights turned down low for home movie viewing, you’ll still get plenty of ambient light. This is caused by the light from the projector being reflected off the screen and scattered throughout the room. That light, in turn, bounces off the walls and ceiling and comes back at the screen, which reduces the sharpness of the image. This type of light scatter is unavoidable with a white or gray screen, but not with a Black Diamond screen. The Black Diamond screen “absorbs” ambient light, instead only reflecting light back toward the source: the projector. This results in a darker room and a better quality image.

The other aspect of the Black Diamond that makes it special is that other ambient light sources do not affect the image quality nearly as much as they would with a white or gray screen. This is due, again, to the screen’s ability to absorb light that isn’t being directly aimed at the screen from a front angle position. The image quality of the Black Diamond screen, even in a room full of uncurtained windows, is comparable to that of an HD television in the same light conditions. We should mention that there is no glare like with glass or lexon.
