Motorized Screens

I just wanted to write to you and tell you how impressed and happy I am with the Black Diamond II 1.4 gain screen.

I did some extensive research into various projectors and screens for my home theater. I knew I wanted the best possible picture quality for my budget. Like most people with home theaters, I planned on watching movies with little to no ambient light. I also knew I wanted to go to a 2.35:1 aspect ratio with the screen to enjoy movies in cinemascope format. I also, however, wanted to watch sports with some ambient lighting. With my old home theater set up, the projected image would just get washed out with even a little bit of ambient lighting. I was also worried about the black bars on the side while watching 16:9 content. I also knew that the masking screens available from other vendors were quite expensive. So, after months of research on the internet and seeing the BD II screen in person, I went with a 142″ diagonal 2.35:1 aspect Black Diamond 1.4 gain screen. My projector of choice was the JVC HD-950. The combination of this screen and projector is flat out awesome! It is like watching a 142″ plasma or LCD. Even with some ambient lighting there is no significant washout of the image. With the lights off, the picture just jumps off the screen and looks almost 3-D. The black bars are not noticeable at all while watching 16:9 content. There is essentially no reflection off of the walls or ceiling so that the picture looks like it “floats” on the wall. The viewing angle is extremely wide for a high gain screen as well. Everyone who sees my theater is blown away. Thanks again!
