Why Should I Buy A Projector?
Most people never understand why they should buy a projector. Both front and rear projection offer the most amazing experience imaginable. For starters a front projector is much less expensive per square inch compared to a flat panel TV. You can now buy a 100″ projector and screen for less than $1000. The number one reason most people have not bought projection systems in the past was ambient light. We have all seen it, the washed out projection screen in a bar or church. Well now that has all changed with a new technology invented by Screen Innovations called Black Diamond. The Black Diamond projection screen allows any projector to work in any environment. You can now use you projector in a bright room, living room, game room, etc. Check out the newest Black Diamond screen videos at www.screeninnovations.com
Projector Screen Company
Screen Innovations is More Than Your Average Projector Screen Company
Screen Innovations isn’t just a projector screen manufacturer. We’re also an innovator in the projector screen market, developing the latest in screen technology for the best home or business viewing available. Our newest innovation is the Black Diamond. This revolutionary screen material doesn’t just reflect light. It also absorbs it. Light coming directly at the screen from the front (the light from the projector) is reflected while ambient light, or light from other sources, is absorbed.
This reduces the glare coming off the screen, keeping the room darker than a standard white or gray screen, which keeps your image sharp and clear. It also allows you to use the screen in less than ideal light conditions, including outdoors or in rooms with multiple windows. As long as the light is coming from the side or rear of the screen, it won’t affect your viewing experience. You’ll get an image comparable to an HD television, something impossible with other projector screens in these light conditions.
Our Reference series of fixed screens are available with the Black Diamond screen technology and are a great choice for serious home theatres and businesses that may have imperfect light conditions.
We also make screens in standard matte white and gray materials in fixed, motorized, and manual installations. Our wide variety of materials, as well as our custom sizing options, allow you to get the perfect screen for your particular needs, whether its home use, business presentations, or entertainment for your customers.

Projector Screen
Deciding Which Projector Screen Is Right For You
Your first consideration should be what the screen will be used for. If you need a screen for occasional classroom or business use, or if you like the idea of setting up a screen in the backyard for a special movie night, then a Sensation manual pull-down or pull-up screen is probably your best choice. These screens are available in widescreen (16:9) and standard (4:3) aspect ratios in a variety of sizes. They are extremely portable and can be set up by a single person in a matter of seconds.
If you want a more permanent installation, but don’t have a room dedicated to viewing or presentations, you may want to consider a Reference or Performance series motorized screen. These screens can be either externally or flush mounted and modified with decorator plates to better blend with your existing décor. They can be easily extended or retracted as the room’s current purpose dictates. These screens are available with several options, including screen color, size, aspect ratio, and voltage.
Serious home theatre builders or businesses with dedicated viewing areas will want to consider a fixed screen in the Reference, Performance, or Sensation series. With a fixed screen, your options increase dramatically. Not only are there multiple widescreen format options, screen material options, and sizes, they can also be flat or curved for the best viewing angles for your room.

Projection Screens
Projection Screens For Any Budget
There are several factors to consider when choosing the right screen for your particular needs, but perhaps the most pressing for most people is cost. Screen Innovations offers three different series of screens with a full range of options, ensuring that you can find a screen that fits your needs and your budget.
If you’re looking for an entry-level screen that will offer good performance in standard sizes, the Sensation series is probably your best bet. The Sensation series includes both portable pull-up and pull-down screens that are great for temporary use and fixed screens that focus on basic quality and affordability. Your options are more limited, but you’ll get a good picture at a great price.
If you’re looking for a more mid-range alternative, the Performance line of fixed and motorized screens offers high-end picture quality at a competitive price. The Performance line offers more options than the Sensation line, including two screen materials (Gamma HD and Lunar Gray HD) as well as three widescreen ratios, in addition to standard 4:3. Motorized screens come equipped with IR receiver and are designed to be installed easily.
Reference Series Projection Screens Are the Best of the Best
The Reference series of fixed or motorized screens are the top-of-the-line option for those looking for optimum quality and customization. Fixed Reference screens are fully customizable, from the choice of the full range of our screen materials, including Black Diamond, sizes in increments of one inch from 70 inches to over 200 inches, and front or rear projection. With our Reference motorized, you can choose high or low voltage and customize the size of the black drop. With the fixed screens, you can choose between flat and curved. You can even customize the radius of the curve to fit your exact specifications.

Projection Screen Reviews
Unanimous Praise in Screen Innovations’ Black Diamond Projection Screen Reviews
We’ve seen nothing but raves in the recent reviews of our Black Diamond II projection screen material. Customers love it. Installers and dealers love it. Professional reviewers for websites and magazines have been blown away by the Black Diamond II screen.
Our demo at the CEDIA Expo was universally praised. And it’s no surprise. The Black Diamond II revolutionizes the projection screen market. The demonstration that seems to be the most effective for reviewers is the comparison of ambient light reflected off the Black Diamond II screen compared to a gray or white screen with similar gain.
Lowering the Black Diamond screen over an image projected on a white or gray screen, you can instantly see the difference. The room gets noticeably darker as the screen lowers into place, covering up the standard screen underneath. A white screen will reflect the light from the projector, not just back at the audience, but throughout the room. That light is, in turn, reflected off the walls and ceiling, and bounced back to the screen, causing the image to grow dimmer. With the Black Diamond II screen, the light is directed back toward the projector, not dispersed throughout the room. This keeps the room dark and presents a high contrast, high quality image to the audience, while still retaining a respectable viewing angle.

Projection Screen Paint
Is Projection Screen Paint a Viable Alternative?
One DIY alternative to purchasing a projection screen is to paint the wall, either with regular matte wall paint or with a special paint designed for this purpose, such as Goo. Some DIYers choose to paint a piece of fabric or other material with the screen paint instead of the wall itself, and then mounting this as you would a screen. While a good projector will be able to create a decent image on any uniform surface, the texture of the wall can reduce your image quality. With the relatively low cost of a good projector screen these days, purchasing a real projector screen can be a more cost-effective option than some DIY alternatives.
What You Get When You Purchase a Screen Instead of Using Projection Screen Paint
Screen Innovations’ HD screens, for example, have the least pronounced texture available today. This ensures that the image you’re projecting will not be unnecessarily dulled or blurred by the texture of the screen. The color of the screen is another important variable. White and gray screens are still the industry standard. A white screen will necessarily have lighter blacks. A gray screen will give darker blacks, but also grayer whites.
Using screen paint instead of using a screen can make it harder to get the right gain for your projector. Using a screen, painted or otherwise, that isn’t the right gain can result in hot-spotting or excessive light scatter, both of which can greatly reduce image quality.

Projection Screen Material
How Projection Screen Material Affects Your Image
Color is one variable that will affect the picture. As you probably know, the black part of a projected image is actually just an area where no light is being projected. On a white screen, the black parts of the picture won’t be truly black, as the light from other areas of the projected image will bleed into the black space. To compensate for that, gray screens offer a darker base. This will give you darker blacks, but it will also give you grayer whites. For many people, this is a reasonable compromise.
Gain is another factor. Gain is the measure of light reflected off the screen compared to the reflected light of a base measurement (that reflected by a screen coated in a particular substance). Screens can be reflective, meaning they reflect light in every direction, like a mirror, or retroflective, where the light is directed back at its source and not diffused. The color of the screen affects gain in some ways, though it isn’t the only determining factor.
Another variable that you may not have considered is the texture of the screen. A marbled texture that you can see easily with the naked eye will distort the image projected on it, making it appear blurry or unfocused. Using an overly textured screen will result in a picture quality below that of which your projector is capable. Our HD screens are manufactured with the finest texture possible today. This results in a clearer, better image, no matter what projector you use.

Screen Innovations makes projection screens for home and business use. Our range of screens encompasses fixed, motorized, and manual screens in three product lines that offer everything from basic, entry level screens to state-of-the-art, fully customized screens that are changing the way people think about front projection viewing.
A Projection Screen Manufacturer That’s Also a Design and Development Company
In addition to manufacturing projection screens, we also design and develop screen material. Our Lunar Gray and Gamma HD screens set the standard when they first arrived on the scene. Now, we’re changing the industry again with the Black Diamond II. As with our other offerings, the Black Diamond II is getting rave reviews for its incredible picture quality, even in rooms with plenty of ambient light. That’s right. A Black Diamond II screen gives the same picture quality as an HD television in well-lit rooms.
You can get Black Diamond II screen material in our Reference series of fixed projection screens. The Reference series also offers other options, including five aspect ratios, flat or curved structure, and decorator options, including ten different frame colors. You can also choose your screen size in increments of one inch, from 77 inches to over 200 inches. In fact, you can design and request an entirely custom screen that is built exactly to your specifications, including size, material, and even the radius of the curve, ensuring that your screen will be perfect for your needs.

Projection Screen Frames
Projection Screen Frames Are Available in a Range of Colors
Our Reference series fixed screens can be color customized with decorator accent frames. These frames come in a variety of colors and textures, so you can match your screen frame to your interior design.
If you’d like a wood finish look to coordinate with your furniture or other wooden accents, consider the Maple, Red Oak, Cherry, or Mahogany finishes. If you prefer a more colorful frame, we have several shades of blue, red, neutral, and gray. For the more traditional, our textured velvet black frame will give your screen a clean, classic look.
If you don’t want the screen to be visible at all, when not extended, consider the Reference motorized screen. Available in a wide range of options, including custom black drop size, this screen can be flush mounted in the ceiling so that the screen chassis is invisible. If you change your mind, and want the chassis to be externally mounted, you can customize the chassis with the same accent plate color choices. All the necessary materials for flush-mount and external mounting come standard with the Reference motorized package.
Projection Screen Frames Are Just One Customization Option
Reference series screens are also available in a variety of screen materials, sizes, and aspect ratios. This allows you to ensure that your screen will be an exact match to your needs. To design a custom screen, you can use our Screen Wizard tool to create a screen that will match your room and your projector perfectly.

Projection Screen Fabric
What to Look For When Selecting Projection Screen Fabric
Everyone who has shopped for a projection screen has heard the term “gain.” Gain is the measure of light that is reflected off the screen. Whether a high or low gain is the best choice depends on your set up.
The texture of the screen fabric is another important factor in picture quality. A highly textured fabric will result in a blurry-looking image. Our HD screens are made with the subtlest texture possible to ensure that your image is as good as it can be.
Our Revolutionary New Projection Screen Fabric: Black Diamond
Our Black Diamond screens, however, offer something entirely different. The reflective nature of the Black Diamond screen gives a high-quality image in less-than-perfect light conditions. It does this by absorbing non-direct light and reflecting direct light from the projector back at its source.
Most screens reflect light from wherever it comes from, and bounce it around. This means that ambient light will decrease your picture quality. It also means that the projector itself will increase the light level in the room, which can also lead to a decreased image quality. The Black Diamond screen absorbs light from indirect sources instead of reflecting it, which means that ambient light, and the light reflected off the screen from the projector, won’t ruin the picture.
Our Reference series of fixed projection screens offers you the option of our full range of technology-defining screen materials, including our Lunar Gray HD, our Gamma HD white screens, and, of course, Black Diamond.
