SI’s TPM100 Theater Performance Motorized 100-Inch Projection Screen Was Donated and Installed to Help Rebuild the Home-Based “Tiny Works of Heart” Not-for-Profit Photography Studio in Keller, Texas
Austin, Texas – July 7, 2009 – SI (www.siscreens.com) is proud to announce that it has donated a TPM100 Theater Performance Motorized 100-inch projection screen for a recently aired episode of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The screen was installed by Media Design of Fort Worth, Texas.
“We are impressed beyond belief that companies like SI Screens have stepped-up to help deserving families,” says Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Senior Producer Diane Korman. “The project was a perfect fit for our companies to join forces and create an extreme home.”
According to ABC and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, the Augustin family of Keller, Texas, lost their home and home-based not-for-profit photography studio in a flood. Amber Augustin started up her volunteer photography business, “Tiny Works of Heart,” which was inspired by the premature birth of her third child, son Lane. The challenge of Lane’s birth and the family’s emotional and financial struggles during this period inspired Amber to volunteer her time and talent as a photographer to taking pictures of babies born in the N.I.C.U. (neonatal intensive care unit). Many of the babies born in N.I.C.U. don’t survive, making time spent between parents and their fragile babies very precious. For that reason, Amber started a free service and mission called “Tiny Works of Heart” to give families a chance to professionally capture their time with their fragile child. She also volunteers a great deal of time with an established organization whose intent is to provide hope, comfort, memories and a sense of “normalcy” to the families during these tough times. For this project, SI Screens donated the TPM100 Theater Performance Motorized 100-inch projector screen.
“We were just devastated when the flood destroyed our home and studio,” said Amber Augustin. “In a very short period of time, all of our hard work was lost. Then, we were
blessed by the wonderful people of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and all of the incredible companies who donated their time and products to help rebuild our home and ‘Tiny Works of Heart’ studio. The SI Screens TPM100 projection screen provides just a beautiful, detailed, grand sized image. We are so grateful to SI Screens and Media Design for the projection screen and their help. The families we work with deserve the very best and for them to see the pictures of their precious babies on a bigger than life medium is just a wonderful experience for them, and us.”
SI’s luxurious Performance Motorized projector screens are a revolutionary design that sets the standard for aesthetics and picture quality. Performance Motorized offers the “Super Flat” rigid screen tensioning system ensuring a perfect image from all projectors. Standard amenities include 12 volt trigger, IR / remote, and 24 inches of extra black drop, making the Performance Motorized the ultimate solution for any home theater or commercial application.
“When we were informed that Ty [Pennington] needed a projection screen for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’s secret room we were ecstatic to help,” said Ryan Gustafson, SI Screens president. “When we heard the screen would be used to show off Amber Augustin’s photography for the ‘March of Dimes’ and ‘Tiny Works of Heart’, we were even more excited. For many families these pictures are treasured memories of their babies who had very brief lives. The photos, often as many as 1,200 per family, are all free. Now Amber has a large projection screen to show off her work!”
Each episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is self-contained and features a race against time on a project that would ordinarily take at least four months to achieve, involving a team of designers, contractors and several hundred workers who all have just seven days to totally rebuild an entire house – every single room, plus the exterior and landscaping. The lives of the lucky families are forever changed when they learn that they’ve been selected to have their home walls moved, their floors replaced and even their facades radically changed. The result should be a decorator’s delight…if it can be done in time.
